Castle Calvaria can be translated from the Latin to Skull Castle. And this piece truly lives up to its name, there are skulls everywhere -- under the drawbridge, on the crenelated tower and even hanging from the branches of the trees.
This piece reminds me of the days of the Croak N' Haggard Mortuary. More somber and less whimsical of later pieces.

Love the castle, have a total of 34 department 56 Halloween houses, some of my houses play sounds, or items will move, love having some that just light up like castle Calvaria. Love the detailed skeleton heads at the foot of drawbridge. This castle is definitely a beautiful addition to my collection.
Fabulous building but it just sits there. No action (like LeMax Halloween pieces) It also needs an orange bulb not white one that came with it.
Castle Calvaria is a great addition to our Halloween Department 56 collection. It is one of a handful of castles made in this line. Must have for Department 56 Original Snow Village Halloween collectors. Can’t wait to display for Halloween 🎃
